Today in America Reviews Electric Cars

Electric cars stand poised to take the car market by storm. These vehicles take the concept of hybrid cars a step further, by not using gasoline at all. As manufacturers create models with greater driving ranges, these vehicles promise to become even more popular. Currently, the limited driving range of electric cars, with most topping out around 100 miles, deters many consumers from purchasing them. However, manufacturers are developing technologies that will extend the driving range of such vehicles, making them more practical. Electric vehicles run exclusively on electricity, and do not produce emissions. Therefore, they reduce the demand for oil, and reduce people’s carbon footprints. The environmental benefits and cost savings from not having to purchase gas make these vehicles alluring to many consumers.

Today in America TV Examines Solar Power

A solar powered micro-grid by SunEdison.
In economically depressed remote areas, where access to the traditional power grid is not an option, it is often cheaper to install a solar power system than a diesel generator. Solar power is used to produce energy in third world countries that normally relied on diesel generators. Diesel is becoming expensive, and as the price of solar panels continues to decline, solar energy is becoming a viable option in many remote locations.

These small solar plants have a battery backup system, which stores excess solar power, and delivers it back to customers when the sun is not shinning. The batteries can store enough power to last about 3 days before needing to be recharged by the sun. Diesel generators are still designed into the system in the event the sun doesn’t shine for 3 or more days.

Today in America with Terry Bradshaw, and Jobs

American jobs remain the pressing issue for most of the country. While the economy has grown somewhat in recent years and the private sector has added jobs for many months in a row, the pace of job creation has not kept up with the expansion of the workforce, and has not brought the unemployment rate down much at all. It currently stands at 8.4%, an exceptionally high number given that the economy is growing. It seems that a large percentage of the millions of jobs lost after the economic collapse of 2008 may not return. However, experts predict that some established and newer industries will add jobs in the coming years, perhaps representing a light at the end of this proverbial tunnel.

The cable television program Today in America with Terry Bradshaw will showcase industries and companies across the nation that have created jobs. Today in America reviews companies and industries throughout the American economy, highlighting examples of achievement and innovation. It looks at stories of growth and economic development nationwide. Today in America Terry Bradshaw examines promising trends and developments across American culture.
